Students from Stokenchurch Primary School have achieved their goal of reaching the North Pole before the end of the year.

Those who attend the school achieved the feat by taking part in several virtual physical activity challenges.

The aim was to carry out enough physical activity to power their virtual sleigh all the way to the North Pole by the end of the term.

They succeeded in this before they broke up for the Christmas holidays on December 21.

Activities completed included football, cycling, yoga, judo, gymnastics, and more.

The challenge encouraged families to get active, which earns ‘Christmas Cheer’ and in turn powers the sleigh to the North Pole.

In total, over 120 children and their parents/carers took part.

Nick Stevens, the school’s headteacher, said: “It’s great to see so many of our school community getting involved.

“Our PTA wanted to organise something fun and active for the children and their families to take part in, whilst also raising much-needed funds for the school.”

Each week, the challenge focussed on different themes to help support getting active and building activity into everyday lives with the hope that families will continue to be active once the challenge has finished.

The event has raised almost £900.
