Pete Couhig has expressed his “anger” about Buckinghamshire being placed into Tier 3, meaning fans will not be allowed to attend games at Adams Park.
Wycombe fans were due to attend the game against QPR tomorrow but the rug was pulled from underneath fans’ feet just 48 hours before kick-off.
The Wycombe Chief Financial Officer believes the club did everything possible to make the fixtures as safe as possible for fans whilst they were allowed at Adams Park.
Couhig also voiced his concern about the economic problems this decision will give football clubs.
He said: “The announcement came as a surprise.
“We put so much work in for the pilot event and then the opportunity to have 2,000 fans.
“Then two days before the next home game, it gets pulled. We’re angry.
“Supporters followed the rules when they were here.
“Everyone here was happy with how the games went with fans in the stadium.
“But for the government to shift the sand beneath our feet makes it really difficult to run a football club right now.”
With tomorrow's fixture against QPR it is clear that the blow is made even worst by the fact Ainsworth won’t have his Adams Park faithful behind him.
Couhig added: “Gareth Ainsworth and I are two of the most optimistic people on the planet and we are ready to go for Saturday.
“It’s just disappointing there won’t be fans here against his old club QPR as we go into the holiday season.”
