A burnout, which is also known as a peel out or a power brake, is when drivers deliberately spin the wheels of their car whilst keeping the vehicle stationary.

The aim is to cause the tyres to heat and tear up which could lead to fires.
This is due to the friction of the wheel spinning against the tarmac whilst the car is staying still.
