Thousands of emotional tributes have been paid to a church-going mother and three of her children who were killed in a horror crash.

Zoe Powell, 29, died alongside her daughters Phoebe, eight, Amelia, four, and six-year-old son Simeon when the family’s Subaru people carrier collided with a truck on the A40 to the west of Oxford at 9.52pm on Monday.

Mrs Powell’s 30-year-old husband, Josh, and their 18-month-old daughter survived the crash but remain in the John Radcliffe Hospital in 'critical but stable condition'.

The Rev Dr Jacky Barr, from St Andrew’s Church in Chinnor, where Mrs Powell and her family were from, said the tragedy was a 'loss to us all in the area'.

She commented: "They used to come to our church.

"Zoe and her children would come along to one of our after-school sessions.

"They were just a delightful family.

"The children were always very engaging.

"They were just a lovely family, they really were.

"This has come as such a shock and loss to us all in the area."

Mrs Powell, who was a regular visitor the the church in Chinnor but was originally from outside the area, described herself online as a 'wife, mama, maker'.

The mother-of-four blogged about the joys of parenting on her website The Mama Book.

She also painted colourful postcards with her favourite literary quotes and psalms, which she sold on Cheerfully Given - an e-commerce website that stocks Christian gifts and stationery.

In a statement on social media founder of the website Menekse Stewart described Mrs Powell as a 'dear and treasured' friend.

She added: "Her heart for Jesus and encouraging people to look to him shines out of her work."

One Oxford resident Robyn Harris, who recently purchased one of Mrs Powell's beautiful cards, said she was heartbroken by the news.

She commented: "I had such a lovely note from Zoe in my order, which I received ten days ago.

"It is so hard to know she is gone but I am thankful for the glimpse of her joy and character I got to see."
