Students at Wycombe High School have collected and donated more than 2,000 books to send to children in one of the poorest countries in the world.
There were so many books, they had to be loaded into the school minibus to take them to the Build On Books charity headquarters in Marlow - ready to be shipped to schools and children in Sierra Leone.
Build On Books organiser, Lori Spragg, said: “Our mission is to give Sierra Leone’s children a better future, free from poverty and despair, and we rely on generous donations like this.
“It is an amazing number of text books and reading books that might otherwise have ended up in landfill so we are so grateful to the school and the students.”
Wycombe High student Zoe Cook said: “It’s great that we are recycling these books and that they will help students in Sierra Leone have a better future.”
Wycombe High head teacher Sharon Cromie added: “Build On Books is an inspirational organisation and both staff and students are delighted to be involved with a charity, within our catchment area, with such a big heart and reach.”
