A GoFundMe page has been launched to help Amersham School prepare for the start of the new school year.

The secondary school, which is based on Stanley Hill, are hoping for a ‘safe return to school in September’, with certain pieces of equipment needing to be installed to make sure that the students are in a protective environment.

The page was set up on June 22 and so far, £2,443 has been raised.

The school’s target is to reach £15,000.

Headteacher Sharon Elizabeth Jarrett, who set up the page, said: “Together we need to raise funds to make sure we can achieve a safe return to school in September.

“We need to install hand sanitisers, temperature screening and workspace protection as a basic minimum to make sure that we can protect each other whilst we ‘Live, Learn and Succeed together.’

“Sadly, we do not have money in our budget to cover the cost of these necessary items - we are relying on your generosity.

“All donations are welcome - no matter how small.

Our school site is uniquely challenging, but we are a fantastic team and I am certain that we can make anything we set our minds on possible!

“Be awesome team Amersham.”

The page was set up one day before Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed that the social distancing rule of two metres will be scrapped, with pubs, restaurants, cafes and other eateries to reopen on July 4.
