Superintendent Emma Burroughs and Chief Inspector Michelle Sale announced as Commander and Deputy of Wycombe local policing area.

Yesterday, June 8, Superintendent Emma Burroughs started her new role as the Commander for Wycombe local policing area (LPA), taking over from Detective Chief Inspector Christina Berenger, who has returned to the Bracknell and Wokingham area as Crime Manager, after holding the post temporarily

Supt Burroughs joined Thames Valley Police in 1996, starting out as a PC in High Wycombe and was then promoted to Sergeant in the area.

Since then, she has worked in a range of roles across response, neighbourhood and investigation teams and has spent the last 18 months within the Force Intelligence and Specialist Operations team.

On her appointment, Supt Burroughs said: “After being initially posted to High Wycombe when I started with Thames Valley Police, I am really excited at the prospect of returning to the area.

“I consider it a privilege to be leading the policing team for this area and to build on the successes that have already been achieved to prevent crime and keep Wycombe as a safe place to live and work.”

“I am keen to focus on tackling those crimes that have a significant impact on our communities, particularly serious violence. As Commander, I will support the excellent officers and staff of Wycombe to continue to deliver a high quality service to the local community.”

Supt Burroughs joins Chief Inspector Michelle Sale who has stepped into the role of Deputy Commander whilst Chief Inspector Graham Hadley continues to work on the force’s response to COVID-19.

C/Insp Sale started her police career as a Special Constable in Hertfordshire Constabulary. She then joined as a PC with the Metropolitan Police Service and worked her way through the ranks, spanning operational, investigative and strategic policing.

She joined Thames Valley Police in January 2019 as an Inspector and since then has worked on one of the Incident and Crime Response teams in High Wycombe.

On the role, C/Insp Sale said: “I am excited to work with Superintendent Burroughs and all of our team to deliver the best service we can to our community and partners in Wycombe.

"Since joining the area, I have been impressed by the dedication and passion of our staff which has really shone through in these unprecedented times of policing during a pandemic.”
