A disposable barbecue destroyed some back garden decking in Loudwater - prompting a warning from firefighters to be careful.
With the recent good weather, which led to the driest May on record, and more people at home because of lockdown, the use of barbecues has increased.
Late on Saturday night, May 30, firefighters were called to a decking fire in Robinson Close, Loudwater, which was caused by a disposable barbecue.
Fortunately, vigilant neighbours spotted the fire and alerted the homeowners, who then used a garden hose to put the fire out before it had time to spread to the house.
When firefighters arrived, after being called at 10.33pm, the fire was out.
Firefighters are warning people not to place disposable barbecues on wooden structures - like decking or benches - because of the high temperatures they produce once alight.
