A High Wycombe man was behind a mysterious anti-EU banner that was flown over Chequers at the weekend in a bid to catch the Prime Minister’s attention.
Dozens of people took to social media to report seeing a small plane trailing a banner with the message “Boris, EU will screw you – fact. Roger” on it.
The Bucks Free Press has spoken to the man behind the banner – Roger Dixon, who lives in Lucas Road, High Wycombe.
Mr Dixon paid for the banner to be trailed over Chequers – where the Prime Minister was recovering after coming out of hospital – and High Wycombe at the weekend.
But the plane took off from an airport in the midlands, meaning it was seen by thousands of people across the country.
Mr Dixon – who was an entrepreneur and used to deal with European countries as part of his work - is not a fan of the EU.
With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic dominating the headlines, the issue of Brexit has largely been put to the back of people's minds - but Roger wants to make sure it is not forgotten.
He said: “I was in high tech business and used to deal with businesses in France and Italy. I have some experience with the European Union as an entrepreneur and they screwed me so I thought I would give Boris the facts.

“The government isn’t really listening to the real problems with the EU.”
Mr Dixon says he has not heard anything from Downing Street or the Prime Minister about the banner.
He said: “Sunday was a lovely day so they were able to fly it – it was a perfect day. They flew down from the Midlands and were able to fly over Chequers three or four times. They were able to go down quite low so the message could be seen. Boris was in Chequers at the time so I thought he might have noticed – that’s why I did it.
“They also flew over our house which was quite exciting. I haven’t heard anything from Boris or Downing Street. I did it for a really good reason.”
The banner captured the attention of many people across the country – and received mixed reviews.
Chris Charlesworth said on Twitter on April 16: “There is currently a light aircraft with a banner flying over Penistone. Essential travel?”
Alex Tustin added on April 25: “There is a plane flying over High Wycombe towing a banner that says ‘Boris – EU will screw you. Fact. Roger’. Bizarre!”
