A sewage leak in a High Wycombe woodland was caused by a blockage of mainly wet wipes - prompting urgent reminders not to put them down the toilet.
Sewage was spilling into Keep Hill Wood for at least the fourth time at the weekend.
The woodland is well used - particularly during the lockdown - by walkers.
But on Saturday, smelly sewage was leaking from a man hole cover down the path.
Thames Water has confirmed they sent engineers to the site after it was reported to them at the weekend.
They found the sewer was blocked with non-flushable items - mainly wet wipes.
Once the blockage had been cleared, the sewer pipe was surveyed for any damage, but was in good condition.
A Thames Water spokesman said: “This is an example of the damage which can be caused to the environment when items such as wipes and sanitary products are put down the toilet instead of in the bin.
“We appreciate and understand people may be using more wipes and washing their hands a lot more as recommended.
"But, please remember, the only things that should be flushed are the 3Ps: poo, pee and toilet paper.
“Wipes and things like kitchen roll if used instead of toilet paper can’t go down the loo.
"As nasty as it sounds, if people do use them as a last resort they need to put them in a bin and dispose of them safely.”
