A fish and chip shop in Marlow Bottom has been named one of the best in the country.
Oysters Fish and Chip, which is based on Brucewood Parade, was named as one of the UK’s best fish and chip shops for takeaways by Fry Magazine, after an inspection in January.

To make the list, fish and chip shops had to impress a mystery diner who visited unannounced where’d they marked the eatery on over 40 aspects of their business.
Shops were inspected on the quality of food and customer service to cleanliness and value for money.
Gav Singh, the proprietor, of Oysters Fish & Chips said: “It’s a sense of great achievement for not only our staff but for our customers who demand quality daily and reward us by their continued business and loyalty.

“It’s a tough economic climate with growing food costs, so I’m proud that we keep fish and chips alive and kicking for future generations to enjoy this well balanced, nutritional fresh, product.”
The popular chippy in the village passed with a whopping 96 per cent, with Oysters impressing their mystery diner with a traditionally wrapped bag of chips.
The shop were also praised for their cleanliness, their modern interior and with their ample parking.
Reece Head, competition organiser, then added: “It’s been a tough year for fish and chip shops with rising potato and fish prices putting pressure on shops’ margins.

“On top of this, takeaways are now dealing with the difficult issue of coronavirus, so it’s with great pleasure that we bring some positive news at this tough time.
“All those that have made our 50 Best Takeaways operate to the highest standards, never cut corners and day-in, day-out bring piping hot, freshly cooked fish and chips to the masses.
“Many of these shops are at the heart of the community and without them our high streets, town centres, cities and shopping malls just wouldn’t be the same.
“We are proud of all the winners as there is so much more to running a small business these days and these takeaways are on top of every aspect, whether it’s sourcing sustainably, being environmentally responsible, introducing click and collect and deliveries and taking card payments.
“They are making fish and chips relevant today and for the future.”
