A successful Bucks farm shop can add another award to its collection - after one of its pies fought off competition from 158 other professionals to be given a silver medal.

Laceys Farm Shop in Bolter End entered into the steak and ale class at the British Pie Awards 2020 - and won silver, despite going up against 847 other pies from 160 professional pie bakers, butchers and chefs from around the country.

After an extensive judging process on each pie’s appearance, taste and skills by 140 experts, the pies received their awards on Friday, March 6.

Laceys - which opened its farm shop in 2016 - was awarded silver in the steak and ale class, which saw the most entries of any class on the day.

The British Pie Awards 2020 were held in the rural capital of food, Melton Mowbray.

Will Lacey, who is the seventh generation of the same family to run the farm, along with his brother Ed, said: "All the pies are handmade in the farm shop with beef from our own herd of cattle.

"We are so thrilled with this award, from rearing the cattle to making the pies it is all done here on the farm, and we try to make every step of the process as good as we can. To get national recognition is fantastic."

It's not the first time the Bucks farm has won big in national awards.

They managed to beat the likes of Arla, Muller and Wensleydale Creameries to win the prestigious title of best tasting dairy product in the UK 2018 for their single cream at The Dairy Industry Trade Awards.
