Shoppers in South Bucks are continuing to bulk buy as the coronavirus spreads across the country at a rapid pace.

Last week, we reported that Loudwater’s Tesco branch, as well as the store in Princes Risborough and other Bucks supermarkets, had empty shelves as customers continue to stock up on essentials such as toilet rolls, hand sanitiser and pasta.

However, the Tesco branch in Old Amersham remembled an apocalyptic movie with one customer describing the situation as, ‘absolute madness’.

It has gone down from five to one

The mass increase in purchases have seen Tesco reduce the number of certain items a customer can buy, which has gone down from five to one on specific necessities.

There were even some customers leaving the shop with their faces covered with scarves to protect themselves from any bacteria.

The Old Amersham branch is just one of many shops across the UK that is experiencing unprecedented demand.

And following the panic buying in shops across the UK, Aldi, one of Tesco's mains competitors, issued a statement stating that they are working ‘tirelessly’ amid the crisis.
