An Audi driver was killed in a crash with a bus on a busy road between High Wycombe and Marlow.
The crash, on the 60mph stretch of Wycombe Road, happened at 1.45pm on Monday.
Sadly a 39-year-old man, who was driving the black Audi, died at the scene from his injuries.
Three passengers on the bus were also treated for minor injuries but none of them needed hospital treatment.
The bus involved was an Arriva vehicle.
The road was shut off by emergency services between Rebellion Brewery in Marlow and The Harvester restaurant near Handy Cross following the crash.
The air ambulance, South Central Ambulance, Bucks Fire and Thames Valley Police were all called to the scene.
An eyewitness who was on the bus at the time of the crash told the Bucks Free Press everyone was left shaken by the "awful" incident.
She said the head-on crash happened as the vehicles were coming round a bend in the road.
Investigating officer, PC Richard Lunn, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, based at Amersham, said: "I am appealing for witnesses to this tragic incident to please come forward.
"I believe there were two vehicles travelling in front of the bus before the collision and the occupants may have seen what happened.
"I would ask those individuals to please get in touch with any information they have.
"Furthermore, I am looking to speak to any passengers who were on the bus that have not already provided their details to us.
"I would also urge anyone who was travelling along the road around the time of the incident to check any dash-cam footage in case it may have captured anything that may assist with the investigation."
An Arriva Midlands spokesman said: "We are aware of a collision that took place yesterday at around 2pm in High Wycombe.
"Our team attended the scene and will continue to assist the relevant authorities with their ongoing investigations.”
