Shocking CCTV reveals the moment a man was hit by a reversing car - which then fled the scene - and left with a broken leg in High Wycombe.
At around 10.35pm on Friday, December 27, the 48-year-old man was walking on Oxford Road near to the junction with Bridge Street and the Arriva bus depot when he attempted to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing.
The man noticed a light blue coloured vehicle being driven towards him, and so he moved back to the kerbside to avoid a crash.
As the man then went to cross, the car reversed and hit the man, leaving him with a broken leg and severe bruising to his shoulder.
He was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Police investigating the crash have now released CCTV of the shocking incident.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector Steve Fox, of Force CID, based at High Wycombe police station, said: “We have previously appealed for witnesses to come forward, and are now releasing this footage of the incident in question which has led to serious injuries to the man.
“We are aware that members of the public came to the aid of the victim prior to police arrival, and I am again asking these people to come forward, as they may also have valuable information which can assist our investigation.
“The vehicle involved is a distinctive light blue colour, and I believe someone will recognise this vehicle, which may have sustained slight damage as a result of this incident.
“I am also appealing to anybody who may have dash-cam footage of the incident to please check this and make contact if you have anything that can help this investigation.
“Please call the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 43190403323 or alternatively make a report online.
“You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
