Marlow’s parking problems could be a thing of the past - as fresh plans to add extra levels to one of the town's busiest car parks are revealed.
The plans, which have been proposed by Marlow Town Council, would see decked parking - similar to a multi-story car park - added in Riley Road, behind the town’s Sainsbury’s store.
Over the past 10 years, residents and councillors have repeatedly called for a multi-storey car park in the town to try and alleviate chronic parking problems.
The idea has resurfaced after earlier discussions about it were quashed by Wycombe District Council in 2016 for being too expensive.
Fresh plans for the extra car parking space was revealed at the town’s Chamber of Commerce meeting on Monday, November 18.
The initial idea will see 150 spaces on the deck with there being two entrances and exits, a trolley bin, stairs and a lift with the car park being sandwiched between the supermarket and Riley Park.

Speaking at the meeting, which was held at the town’s Crowne Plaza, Cllr Alex Collingwood, who was representing both Bucks County Council and Wycombe District Council, confirmed that the ‘plans had been included in the town’s regeneration scheme’.
The news comes a week after ideas for extra decks on all Wycombe District Council-owned car parks to add capacity were rejected by cabinet, after a special task group was asked set to up to see what improvements could be made to solve district’s parking issues.
Sixteen recommendations to improve parking across the district were made, with some of them being taken forward for the new unitary authority to discuss when it comes into existence in April next year.
But as the council will be made up of newly elected councillors, the new authority would not be forced to proceed with plans and ideas that were put forward prior to March 31 2020.
But Cllr Collingwood reiterated that this would be quite ‘unusual’ and unlikely for the new council to backtrack on the town’s Regeneration Scheme, due to how much the plan is improving the town.
