Generous supporter will help charity double their funds this Christmas
The Epilepsy Society based in Chalfont St Peter is hoping the public can help double their income in the run up to Christmas as a generous supporter has pledged to match the money raised for the Helpline Appeal.
The society runs a national helpline for all those affected by epilepsy, which gives them a safe place to talk about how it affects their lives and discuss their feelings.
The charity has only been able to open their helpline three days a week for the last three years and now wants to have the service open five days a week.
So far the charity has raised half the money needed for the helpline to be open five days a week, with the help of supporters, and now has another £125,000 left to raise.
Claire Glazebrook, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at the Epilepsy Society said: “The great news is that a fantastically generous donor has agreed to match, pound for pound, the first £62,500 we raise before 31 December 2019.
“This means that as soon as we hit our £62,500 target, we will have raised the full £125,000.
“This is such a wonderful gift coming up for Christmas.
“And it will mean more people from across the UK being able to access the emotional support and information they need, when they need it.”
Staff at the Epilepsy Society are already planning some fundraising events on site, including a pre-Christmas cake sale.
They are hoping that people in the community will also help support the appeal with their own bake sales, raffles, sponsored events, carol singing or donations.
donations.
Claire added: “Members of the community are always so supportive of us at Epilepsy Society, both through fundraising and volunteering.
“We hope they will take the opportunity to make their money go twice as far this Christmas, by supporting our Helpline Appeal.
“A £20 donation will instantly double to £40, and with Gift Aid, that means an amazing £50.
“Every donation will really make a difference.”
