Carol’s Kitchen at The Prince of Wales in Marlow is regarded as one of the best places to eat in South Bucks, and my following Sunday roast there, I can easily see why.

I attended the Mill Road venue and was blown away by not just the food, but by the ambience of eating section, the service and how quick the food came out.

Looking at the menu which had a wide range of mouth-watering meals, I opted to have a beef roast with a syrup coated sponge cake, with my guest having a chicken roast and a bread and butter pudding.

My beef roast was accompanied with roast potatoes, garden peas, sliced up carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, one giant Yorkshire pudding, gravy and a side of horse radish, and it was incredible.

The beef was cooked to perfection as it was incredibly succulent, and with the gravy and horse radish on top of the meat, you could really taste tenderness – it was wonderful.

Additionally, none of the vegetables were over or undercooked.

The potatoes were divine as they were crispy on the outside yet incredibly soft of the inside, and with the gravy being soaked into the carrots, broccoli, peas and cauliflower, the combination of flavours were very noticeable, which give the meal a real kick.

Funnily enough, I’m not a big fan of Yorkshire pudding as I usually find them to be plain and somewhat unnecessary to a perfectly busy of plate of food.

So, when I saw this giant Yorkshire in my meal, at first, I wasn’t too keen.

However, when I had the Yorkshire, I was taken back at how crispy it was, and incredibly, it wasn’t overcooked.

It was cooked to perfection and with a side of horse radish, it went down a treat.

It was without doubt on of the nicest Yorkshire puddings I have ever had.

So, it was no surprise that I had a clean plate at the end of my meal.

Not long after I had wiped my plate clean, my guest also finished their meal and he too enjoyed his roast.

He described his roast chicken as ‘marvellous’ as the ‘chicken and the stuffing complement each other’.

Moving onto dessert, the syrup coated sponge cake really hit the spot but the only issue I had was that it was too sweet for my liking.

Other than that, the pudding was top drawer.

My guest, who enjoyed his bread and butter pudding, described his dessert was ‘amazing’, and admitted he would return to The Prince of Wales.

The bread and butter pudding really melted in your mouth and with warm custard, it was certainly the best way to finish your meal.

Carol’s Kitchen at the Prince of Wales have out done themselves, so it’s no surprise they are well respected in Marlow.
