A MAIN route through Beaconsfield will be closed for a week, Thames Water has announced.
The route - which connects New Town with Beaconsfield Old Town - has been shut while 'emergency sewer works' are done.
Thames Water says there will be 'increased noise and movement' as they bring in tankers to pump the sewage while the sewers are dug up.
While the company says it 'anticipates' the work will be done in the next seven days, a sign at the closure says it is expected to finish on October 15 - 11 days' time.
The closure has been made outside the National Film and Television School between New Town and Old Town.
Traffic is backed up back towards Aylesbury End - this was the scene at about 4pm on Friday afternoon.
The closure is already causing queues, and there are also some temporary traffic lights due to gas works further down the road towards Aylesbury End.
