Drivers travelling during rush hour on Thursday morning had a number of delays following a horror crash on the M40 on Wednesday evening.
The M40 was shut after a serious crash which left one vehicle on its roof after leaving the road.
Thames Valley Police confirmed on Thursday morning: "Officers remain on the scene of a serious road traffic collision between a car and a large goods vehicle on the M40 between junctions 2 and 1A which happened yesterday evening.
"Lanes one and two and the hard shoulder remain closed and will be so for some time.
"Lanes three and four are now running, but there will be significant congestion while barrier repairs are completed."
As a result of the continuing works, delays have built this morning on the A413 in Amersham as well as other smaller roads through Coleshill, Gerrards Cross, Chalfont St Giles and the A404 through Bisham and Marlow.
