A notorious High Wycombe jihadi has died in an ISIS suicide bombing in Syria, according to national reports.

Former Morrisons security guard Omar Hussain, who would now be 32, is understood to have volunteered for the "martyrdom operation" in the Islamists' besieged capital Raqqa.

He died in a blast as Western-backed Kurdish forces drove the terrorists out of the city, security sources told The Mail On Sunday.

The former Cressex Community School student first rose to notoriety after appearing via video link on BBC’s Newsnight, where he claimed he would only return to the UK to “plant a bomb”.

He has regularly appeared in ISIS propaganda messages before and in September 2015 was officially blocked by the UN from ever returning to the country.

Hussain, who also used the name Abu Sa’eed Al-Britani, become well known for his social media outbursts and wrote about his “lonely” life in Syria, publishing lengthy blog posts about his boredom.

However, the jihadi was left with nowhere to turn when he angered ISIS leaders by calling for terrorists to join branches in Libya rather than Syria.

He was reportedly locked up in the terror group’s notorious prison in Raqqa's sports stadium - which was known for brutal torture and executions.

At the time, British journalists in the area found Hussain's nom de guerre scrawled on the wall of a prison cell.

Experts claimed it was unlikely Hussain would have survived his detention.

But "strong intelligence" now suggests he took part in a suicide attack as Raqqa fell, the Mail On Sunday reported.

There has been no official confirmation from the Foreign Office.
