A couple of Buckinghamshire based Scouts enjoyed the 'biggest and most exciting" Jamboree event in the USA.
Nathan Shah from Amersham and Gracie Caine from High Wycombe, both 17, were amongst 45,000 Scouts who travelled across the globe to take part in the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia.
The event happens every four years, with this year’s theme being “unlock a new world”, which focused on creating a sustainable world together.
The Jamboree hosted several activities for the Scouts to participate in, which included zip-lining, white water rafting and abseiling.
The Scouts also took part in a cultural day, where they sampled foods from different countries, whilst socialising with other Scouts from across the world.
Gracie said: "This has really helped me build more confidence in myself, meaning I feel more comfortable talking to people and relating to their culture.
“I have already made friends in USA, Australia, Italy - friendships just happen.
"It's amazing. The atmosphere around the whole site is buzzing and lively."
The preparation for this year's event has taken roughly two years, with the Jamboree being opened by the UK chief Scout, Bear Grylls.
He said: “World Scout Jamborees only happen every four years and tens of thousands of Scouts attend each one.
“They are incredible festivals of peace, friendship and adventure. Young people will make friends for life with people from over 150 countries, experience different food, language and culture while learning new skills.
“It will be the journey of a lifetime.”
