Bucks Fire and Rescue have pleaded with the public to not use water when a pan has caught fire.
The video shot by the rescue service shows the severe damage that could be caused, if the liquid were to be used to put the fire out.
This comes after several fires have taken place across Buckinghamshire this summer due to the hot weather.
The demonstration shows the explosive effect of water on burning oil, and was carried out at the safety centre in Milton Keynes.
