Flooding could cause damage to homes and businesses this afternoon, the Met Office is warning – prompting them to issue an amber rain alert.
The amber warning in place for this afternoon and evening is a step up from the alert issued last week during Storm Miguel.
The weather service says flooding is possible and there are likely to be delays and cancellations to train and bus services with spray and flooding causing difficult driving conditions after heavy downpours.
Some difficult travelling conditions are expected this evening, especially across London, and southeast England where we have amber and yellow warnings in force. Elsewhere, you may encounter a few heavy showers too #WeatherAware pic.twitter.com/DEaSJLG0q9

The Met Office said: “Following earlier rainfall some heavy, and perhaps thundery, showers are expected to develop over parts of southeast England this afternoon and into the evening.
“Whilst many areas will miss the highest rainfall totals from these some places could see 50-60 mm falling in the space of 4 to 6 hours.
"The showers will then gradually ease later this evening.”
