Ex-youth project star Josh Sneesby is returning to the Wycombe Swan for his new role in Amelie The Musical.
Having built up a vast portfolio of experience in theatre including the National Theatre and The Royal Shakespeare Company, he is now playing the actor-musician role of the blind beggar - alongside Audrey Brisson and Danny Mac.
The show will be taking in 20 venues in a six-month run across the country - but Josh says he cannot wait to get back to the Wycombe Swan, where he performed a decade ago.
He said: “I was part of the youth theatre and the summer projects for a fantastic seven years, so coming back home as a professional actor is a real treat.
“My first ever Wycombe Swan Youth Project was Guys and Dolls when I was 14.
“I landed a principal role completely unexpectedly... all the other principals were the cooler, wiser, way more talented 18/19 year-olds, most of whom were literally double my height and heading off to drama school.
“They were so kind and generous with me, and really took me under their wing.
“That summer was a real catalyst - I knew I wanted to be a professional actor. And to this day, it is still one of the shows I’m most proud of!
“Since then, working at The National Theatre and The RSC has been bonkers, as well as a load of other projects that are really close to heart.”
His latest venture is in Amelie The Musical, an adaptation of the much-loved 2001 award-winning film Amélie.
And if Josh could give audiences just one reason to go and see Amelie?
He said: “It’s a form of unadulterated brilliance you’ll never have seen before.”
He also says there are “plenty” great moments in the show.
