A man who died after being found by emergency services in the River Thames in Bourne End has been named locally.

Thames Valley Police were called to Bourne End Marina at 11.51pm on Friday (April 21) to reports that a person was in the river.

The man was found by emergency services but was sadly pronounced dead in hospital.

He has now been named as Andrew Bonner-Walter, who regularly moored his boat in the marina.

A spokesman for Bourne End Marina said: “We are very saddened to hear of Mr Andrew Bonner-Walter’s death at Bourne End on Friday night (21st April).

“He had been a berth holder at Bourne End with us since November last year. We’d obviously like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends at what must undoubtedly be a difficult time.

“We will be working with the police to assist them with their investigation.

“The marina has now been re-opened.”

Police say they are treating the death as unexplained but not suspicious and Mr Bonner-Walter’s next of kin has been informed.
