The Royal Standard of England is the oldest free house in England, situated in the heart of the Chilterns in Beaconsfield surrounded by beautiful countryside and some scenic walks.
The pub building itself dates back to the Saxon era in the 1060s and so walking into the wooden tavern is like taking a step back in time, as you are surrounded by a plethora of artefacts and trinkets from the past.
The Royal Standard sticks to its roots and offers traditional British pub favourites whilst also having some more modern and diverse dishes on the menu.
The pub does change seasonally and offers it’s ‘pilgrims’ the inviting warmth of a fire in the winter and a barbecue in its garden during summer.
But no matter what time of year, The Royal Standard of England prides itself on a friendly welcome and hearty food.
