When community do-gooders set out to clean up a graffiti-covered fence, the last thing they were expecting was to have the police called on them.
Micklefield cllrs Matt Knight and Andrea Baughan decided to paint over graffiti on a fence on Micklefield Road, High Wycombe last Saturday afternoon with members of the Micklefield Clean Up Team, when a resident who thought they were vandalising the fence called the police.
Cllr Baughan said: “We identified this footpath as somewhere where there was graffiti so we decided to clean it up. Someone must have thought we were vandalising it as that part of the road has a bit of a reputation for graffiti.”
She said the police officers, who came from Marlow, were “lovely” and left them to paint the fence once she and Mr Knight explained what they were doing.
She added: “I think it’s really great that that they responded to the complaint so quickly and came out straight away.
“It shows how brilliant our local police are at helping people.
“The fence looked great afterwards and residents were very pleased.”
