An animal charity in south Bucks has proved itself to be one of the country's best after it was nominated for two prestigious industry awards earlier this month.
Stokenchurch Dog Rescue on Oxford Road has been nominated for an animal charity top team of the year award while one of their longest serving dog carers, Jane Evans, has been nominated for animal charity employee of the year.
The awards are made by insurers Petplan and the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes with the winners being announced on April 20.
The charity's chief executive Michelle Vickers said: "These awards are usually won by the big animal charities and so for us to be nominated is fantastic.
"We're very grateful to all our staff, supporters and volunteers past and present.
"It's great too that Jane has been nominated for hard dedicated work dealing with dogs in all weathers and sometimes difficult and sad circumstances."
The independent charity, which was founded 53 years ago, usually has about 40 rescued dogs in need of new homes and has saved the lives of thousands.
