Television favourite Warwick Davis will open the fourth annual pub music festival KnotFest in Knotty Green next weekend.
The actor, who is well-known for his roles in Star Wars and the Harry Potter series as well as starring as himself in popular television show, An Idiot Abroad, will head to the Red Lion pub on Saturday, September 19 to officially open the three-day music extravaganza.
The Celebrity Squares presenter will be attending with his wife, Loose Women star Sammy, and their children Annabelle and Harrison.
More than a hundred local musicians are set to perform for free from September 18 to 20 in aid of charity.
The likes of New Groove, Electric Jam, The Phil Oades Band, The Tiny Tina Turner Band, The Jukesters and Atomic Mutton will be taking to the stage to raise money for two charities; The Thames Valley Adventure Playground for children and young adults with special needs and other charities, including Little People UK, which is run by Sammy Davis.
Warwick said: "We're all really looking forward to it and meeting everyone. We might even join in with the music.”
Organiser Bob Massie said: “It is very exciting to have Warwick come down to KnotFest this year. He is coming down with the whole gang and visitors can come and say hi.
“He is incredibly approachable and he’s immensely popular at the moment. It is great to have him.”
Red Lion landlady, Tina Massie, who recently won a Great British Pub Award for the best community pub in London and the South East, said: "We're absolutely thrilled that Warwick, Sammy, Annabelle and Harrison have so kindly agreed to open the festival.
“When I heard the news I shrieked down the phone I was so happy.”
The popular event was opened by television presenter Gabby Logan last year and actor and singer Suzanne Shaw and singer Beverley Craven in previous years.
