The mother of a terror suspect who was killed in Kenya has said he was influenced by people with "very twisted, warped ideas" about Islam.
Thomas Evans's death during a siege at a military base in the east African nation has today been confirmed by officials.
News of his reported death led to the national media descending on the family home in Wooburn Green earlier today.
His mother, Sally, spoke only to the BBC about her son and his death.
Asked how he would be remembered, Ms Evans said: "As my son...who had a bright future, before he went down the path he went down.
"He believed if he followed Islam, he would go to paradise, and that was what he wanted."
She said Thomas - who she last spoke to in December - would often speak of trying to convert her and his brother Michael to Islam so they could then all be together in paradise.
Ms Evans added: "He obviously met some people with very twisted, warped ideas. It's nothing to do with Islam and the way they practice."
