TESCO has met with South Bucks District Council to clear the air over safety concerns over the tunnel site.
Residents are concerned with the infill material which has been left in Gerrards Cross since the tunnel collapsed in June 2005.
The BBC's Inside Out TV programme, shown five weeks ago, raised fears about the materials used.
The meeting was arranged after South Bucks District Council leader Peter Hardy wrote to Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy in response to the TV show's findings.
Tesco has appointed an independent environmental consultant to provide a report into the material.
The next meeting between the supermarket chain and the council is scheduled for April 19.
Michael Kissman, Tesco spokes-man, said: "We have been open with the council and we met them recently to share information we have about the safety of the site. It's viewed as safe by the Environmental Health team at the council and the Environmental Agency are also satisfied. We will continue to be open with the council and carry on dialogue with them."
Gerrards Cross Parish Council chairman Peter Chapman said: "It was a productive meeting. I believe Tesco, after a long period of not talking to us, is finally entering into useful dialogue with us. I welcome that and look forward to the report."
