Peter Hudson was officially confirmed as the new mayor of Chesham last night.
Cllr Hudson, who was last year's deputy mayor, was given the chains of office at the annual meeting of Chesham Town Council on Monday evening after being formally nominated for the role.
The Waterside ward member takes over from Cllr Mo Fayyaz and has chosen Dreamflight as his mayoral charity for the year.
His deputy is Cllr Noel Brown - who is now in line for an unprecedented third spell as mayor next year.
Traditionally the previous year's deputy takes over as mayor the following May and Cllr Brown is set to take over from Cllr Hudson.
Many councillors have served as mayor twice but Cllr Brown would be the first to make it a hat trick - and next year is his 40th as a member of the town council.
