Familiar names fell at last week’s Wycombe District Council elections as the Conservatives extended their already healthy majority in the chamber.
Liberal Democrats including long serving Brian Pollock and former High Wycombe Mayor Trevor Snaith both lost their seats, as did Labour group leader Ian Bates.
After all the votes were counted on Friday evening, the Tories had extended their majority in the chamber from 41 to 47, out of 60 councillors.
Among the new faces for the Conervatives were Matthew Davy and Harry Bull, 19 and 21 respectively, both Bucks New University students voted on to the council.
Cllr Davy is the youngest elected member on the 60-strong body, and joined Brian Pearce of Ukip who took a significant victory for the party in Booker and Cressex.
Cllr Bull meanwhile kept out Labour favourite Mr Bates, who lost his Totteridge seat in a shock result.
He told the BFP: “For the last couple of years I've been interested in getting involved with making a difference in the area, and I'm so pleased the people of Totteridge have put their faith in me. Like Matt, I can't wait to get started."
Alongside him in the Totteridge ward Julia Wassell, who won her deat as part of the East Wycombe Independent Group, having previously represented Labour and Liberal Democrats.
Alongside Matt Knight and Andrea Baughan in the Micklefield ward, the recently formed group registered three wins in total.
In her acceptance speech, Cllr Wassell said: “Which party is Julia Wassell in now? She’s in one people want to vote for.
“I pledge to serve the people of Totteridge, right across the board.
"Thank you all to friends and family, WDC staff and for the support that I’ve had. Power to the East Wycombe Independent Party.”
High Wycombe mayor Khalil Ahmed retained his seat for Labour, and now makes up one of six Labour councillors, who grew their number from five.
But it was the Liberal Democrats who fared worst, mirroring the national picture as only one representative from the party was voted in, compared to seven last term.
Among the Lib Dems to lose their seats were former deputy mayor Paula Lee, Alex Slater from Hazlemere and stalwart Brian Pollock.
Mr Pollock – who has represented Bourne End for around 20 years - lost by just 10 votes, and said he has been "extremely fortunate" to serve on the council for that time.
But the closest contest was fought between good friends and Lib Dem colleagues Trevor Snaith and Ray Farmer.
Standing side by side for the Ryemead seat, the vote went to a recount after both men finished with exactly the same number of votes in second place.
And after a recount for the second remaining seat alongside Tory Marten Clarke , Cllr Farmer took the contest by just a single vote.
Elsewhere, independent councillors for Princes Risborough Gary Hall and Alan Turner both extended their share of the vote to be returned to WDC, with impressive counts of 2094 aqnd 2005 respectively.
And Marlow remained a sea of blue, with seven Conservative councillors elected to the chamber including current leader Richard Scott and planning cabinet member Neil Marshall.
The Marlow seats include current Marlow mayor Suzanne Brown, who won more votes than Cllr Scott to take a district seat for the first time in Marlow South East.
And former WDC leader Alex Collingwood registered the second highest vote tally on the council with 2869 votes, bettered only by Tory colleague David Carroll in the Greater Hughenden ward, who received 3350.
