CRESSEX Community School has been celebrating after Ofsted ranked it as a ‘good’ school after its latest inspection – with an ‘outstanding’ sixth form.
The report, from an inspection earlier this month, recognised that the school leaders have established a strong climate for learning, which has led to improvements in the quality of teaching and examination results for students.
Headteacher David Hood said: “Staff, students, parents and everybody in the Cressex school community have worked incredibly hard to make the improvements that Ofsted have recognised. They all deserve huge congratulations. It is especially pleasing that we are seen to be a harmonious place where people of many different backgrounds learn and achieve together.”
The school said the improvement in students’ achievements is the result of the school’s determination to strengthen its learning and teaching. Teachers at Cressex have high expectations and are ambitious for students’ achievement.
The inspection also recognised that students work hard and behave well. Ofsted noted the strength of relationships between staff and students and the positive impact this had on students’ learning and behaviour. The school said it is now ambitious to build on its strengths on its journey towards being an ‘outstanding’ school.
