What's up with the weather these days?
Yesterday it was absolutely pouring with rain when I took my usual peek out the bedroom window to survey my estate before retiring to my bedchamber for the evening.
Upon waking yours truly jumped out of bed, pulled back the curtain and to my horror saw a hard frost covering the world.
Of course all the evenings rain had frozen making for treacherous conditions.
How often does it rain then freeze in just a few hours? The weather is most odd these days.
Before the environmentalists can jump up and shout 'Global warming!' let me say that I don't believe the climatic conditions are one bit the result of the action of people.
After a hearty breakfast it was time to get dressed and leave the sanctuary of my home.
There was black ice everywhere.
I even ventured down my long drive to the road only to see a thin layer of ice on the road surface.
My trusty car negotiated to icy roads and soon one was on my way into the town. However on the way there were many poor pedestrians struggling to get a safe footing on the frozen pavements.
Walking on an icy pavement can be very dangerous. One slip and you can be in the road and potentially slip in front of an on coming car.
In fact while travelling down one particularly icy road in the distance yours truly saw one poor soul slip up in a most hilarious slap stick manner. It must have taken all of five seconds from when he lost his footing to when he was sprawled out on the pavement indeed it brought a right chuckle to my face.
Every time my good self passes a pedestrian walking on an icy pavement your humble servant always slows and takes extra care to ensure if they did slip then my motor could stop in time but other drivers were just whizzing around regardless.
Do other driver even think for the safety of those who walk? It would seem not.
I would like to have seen the police out pulling over the drivers who were obviously travelling too fast despite people likely to slip in front of them.
Once again the fact so many drivers showed no concern is another example of the lack of care and respect for others which is all too apparent in the self centred world in which so many people live.
Next time it's icy please consider those walking on the pavement. If they were to slip do you really want to run them over? Give them a chance and please slow down to pass them safely.
What do you think?
*My next exciting and enthralling blog will be published late on Friday evening ready for you to enjoy when having breakfast on Saturday morning.
