BUCKS escaped major disruption on the roads yesterday, despite the forecast high winds and heavy rainfall.
Transport for Buckinghamshire's operations hub fielded just 21 emergency calls yesterday.
Of these, five were for fallen trees and two were requests to attend flooded roads. Trees had come down in Marlow Bottom, Chesham, Iver, Hedsor and Fawley. There was minor flooding at Green End Street and on the A41 bypass, both at Aston Clinton.
The last storm-related call came just after 2.30pm and TfB crews made safe fallen trees and flooded roads within two hours of call-out. Disruption was kept to a minimum over the county's road network.
Yesterday's 21 call-outs brings to 201 the total number of emergency storm damage calls to TfB's operations hub since Monday December 23. Crews have cleared 110 fallen trees from roads and dealt with 49 surface water flood sites.
The Met Office forecast for the Thames Valley for the remainder of today (New Year's Eve), anticipates between 5mm and 10mm of rainfall, followed by clear spells. Rain is expected tomorrow morning (New Year's Day), clearing during the afternoon and early evening, with gusty showers to follow.
The county's emergency teams and response crews remain on alert and will respond to reports of fallen trees or surface water flooding to ensure roads are kept clear.
