HIGHWAYS crews are on standby to help clear fallen trees or flooding on roads across Bucks over the next 24 hours.
The Met Office forecasts wind and rain over the coming day, although there are no flood warnings for the county from the Environment Agency.
Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) dealt with more than 180 emergency call-outs from the afternoon of Monday, December 23, to the end of Christmas Eve. Most of these were for fallen trees and flooded roads.
Crews carried on the clear-up operation through Christmas Day and Boxing Day, clearing around 100 fallen trees from roads and attending 45 surface water flood sites. They finished the clear-up operation on Friday.
TfB had a total of eight teams working in the north and south of the county, along with three teams of specialist contractors from Salcey to clear blocked roads of fallen trees. Four gulley emptying and ‘Super Sucker’ teams cleared the flooded roads.
As the rain and wind subsided over the holiday period, Buckinghamshire County Council said today there were no further reports of major damage or disruption, although TfB teams remained on standby and continued with the clear up operation over the Christmas holiday.
