A DRIVER had to be rescued by firefighters after being trapped in his car by floodwater.
The male motorist ground to a halt as his car became swamped by metre-deep water in Upper Icknield Way, Saunderton, at around 10.20pm on Christmas Eve.
Firefighters wearing drysuits and lifejackets came to his aid and freed him from his vehicle.
Many roads around the county were affected by rising water levels caused by storm force wind and rain.
Fire crews have reminded drivers not to ignore diversions, road closures or flood warning signs, and to take extra care when roads are flooded.
Six inches of fast-flowing water can knock a person over, while two feet of water can float a car.
