DISASTER was averted last Thursday after the strong winds brought down a tree on a scout hut.
Villagers woke up to see a tree hanging down over the Scout Hut in Speen and thought the worst.
But luckily one strong side branch had hit the ground first and was holding the rest of the tree not only off the ground but also off the roof, walls and away from the windows.
Unbelievably the scout hut was untouched and normal activities can resume.
