While test cricketers swelter in Perth, Cairo gets its first snow for 112 years. Is something odd happening to the climate?
Does it matter? If the Government tries to cut fuel bills by reducing its green commitments, should your readers care?
Should they worry about the prospect of roofs festooned with solar panels, or countryside with wind turbines? Or about what might happen to the planet if that doesn’t materialise?
I shan’t lecture. There’s a host of information on the web, though readers will have to judge what’s reliable. I found googling “Typhoon Haiyan influenced” quite helpful.
Then there’s Al Jazeera News. Their running headlines usually include a sequence (rarely more than three items) on weather around the world. Five minutes viewing each day for two weeks should give sufficient flavour of what’s happening.
If what you see makes you feel despondent, try googling “Zero Carbon Britain” for a more hopeful message.
