THE HEADTEACHER of a Marlow school has revealed plans to overhaul part of the campus to provide a new sixth form block.

Linton Nash, acting head at Great Marlow School, said an old part of the school building will be revamped in the £800,000 project.

Designs for the new centre are still in their early stages, but with 230 A level students currently enrolled, it will feature an extra storey to accommodate the growing sixth form.

Mr Nash said: “We are looking at ways to re-model the existing buildings, because at the moment we have 230 sixth formers with really nowhere to go.

“We want to build a learning space and also areas for their independent study, but there will be an element of social space too."

The block will be funded using money secured through the sale of land to developer Taylor Wimpey, some of which was used to pay for the school’s new Redgrave Sports Centre.

The school has not yet applied for planning permission, with Mr Nash confident the design will not prove controversial.
