A DAZZLING light display at a family home, which has become a Christmas tradition, is once again brightening up a Marlow Bottom street to raise money for charity.

Jancis and Tony Shepherd’s home on Hill Farm Road is transformed each year into a sea of dancing white lights for the Christmas period.

Dubbed the best Christmas light show in Bucks, The annual electric bill-busting display is now in its 13th year, with Tony programming a series of light shows to music which play every 15 minutes in the evenings.

Each year, more lights are added to the impressive array of Santas, reindeer and snowflakes, with a numbered countdown appearing for this year’s big switch-on.

The Shepherds use the attraction to raise money for different charities, with this year’s proceeds going to Braintrust, which conducts research into brain tumours.

Jancis said: “It is becoming something of an obsession for my husband.

“He spent about eight days putting up the lights and it takes around 20 hours to program each song so I’ve become something of a widow to this for quite a while now!

“I think it is really tastefully done and I won’t allow him to put up garish or multi-coloured lights. All the kids and people in Marlow Bottom like it.

“When the electricity bill came through last year my husband had a go at the kids for leaving the lights on – we had good laugh at him for that!”

The lights are turned on at 4.30pm each evening, with the music displays running every 15 minute from 5pm until 9pm.

The Shepherds have already hit their fundraising target or £1500 and are continuing to collect over Christmas and the New Year.
