A DISTRICT councilor says many residents are still unhappy at being switched from wheelie bins to bags in the new waste service which has been rolled out.
Cllr Brian Pearce said some residents in Squirrel Lane in High Wycombe have been left unhappy that they now have to put their rubbish out in sacks rather than the wheelie bins.
The Booker and Cressex Wycombe District Councillor said he could not understand why the last contractor could collect bins from this road but the new contractor cannot.
When the new service came into place on October 28 WDC said 100 properties in the district had their bins replaced with sacks, as the cost of providing a vehicle which could go up the narrower roads was not viable.
Sue Robinson, a spokesman for WDC, added this week: "During the initial survey work which we carried out to prepare for the introduction of the new service, we identified just over 900 properties which we could move over from using sacks to wheeled bins for their residual waste.
"Before the new service started there were around 4,500 properties using sacks for their residual waste.(A proportion of these are flats who have a bulk bin store.)"
She added more changes since the new service was introduced have been made but final figures are currently unavailable.
WDC has offered these properties wheelie bins to store their sacks in, if they are worried about the bags becoming damaged.
Cllr Pearce said: "Why can't they have the specific van- people are paying for the service but they are not getting the service they really want.
"This low figure they gave- I find it hard to believe. It is definitely more than 100 houses affected."
Meanwhile missed collections continue to be reported in the district. There are regular updates on the council's website, www.wycombe.gov.uk.
Cllr Pearce has asked for anyone to contact him on 07523 319160 if they have any problems with the conversion from wheelie bins to sacks - not to report problems but so he can keep a record of households affected.
For missed collections or other issues with the service email wasteteam@wycombe.gov.uk or call 01494 586550.
