By George has your humble servant been busy recently.
Luckily I slept through the storm on Sunday night.
Before going to work on Monday morning yours truly took a quick walking around the grounds of my estate to check that all was well.
To my horror I discovered that one of the outbuildings had suffered some structural damage and repairs will be needed.
Naturally my good self was most upset. On Monday evening time was spent making the building secure and instigating some temporary measures to keep the elements out.
After spending this morning hard at work I was glad when lunchtime arrived and one could partake in my usual promenade around the town centre.
Of course it's the half-term holidays now and the town centre was thronging with children. I must say the behaviour of some of them left a lot to be desired.
The children of today seem to just stop dead when they are walking along without even bothering to see if anyone is coming behind them.
Mothers seem to think they own the pavement indeed on three occasions today yours truly was nearly run over by a perambulator pushed by a young mother.
Before tucking into my sandwiches I need to get a few items from a town centre supermarket.
Unable to find the items on the shopping list my search took me to the supermarkets upper level on their moving walkway.
When coming down the moving walkway the mother in front had let the child take charge of the trolley.
To my horror the child made a right mess of getting the trolley off the walkway and we ended up with a situation when the exit was blocked and my good self was being delivered at speed towards the blockage.
You should have seen the look of horror on the youngsters face when they looked around and saw my giant bulk coming towards them gripping my lunch box in my hand.
Indeed someone of my size would have knocked the child over like a bowling ball hitting a skittle.
Shortly before the moment of impact thankfully the mother freed the trolley and a nasty accident was narrowly averted.
I can tell you my good self would not have been too pleased if a collision had occurred and my lunch box had spilled out onto the floor.
I do think parents need to supervise their children more. Back in the olden days we never had problems like this and old fashioned parents were more responsible.
It was most definitely not a pleasant experience at lunchtime today with children hanging around in gangs and running rampage around the town centre.
Maybe in the school holidays the powers that be should put some teachers in the town centre to keep control of the youngsters?
One shudders to think what antics the youngsters will get up to tomorrow lunchtime.
All I can say is if you are a child or parent and go to the town centre at lunchtime then keep a lookout for a rather rotund gentleman with a jovial expression on his face. If you do see me please let me pass unhindered. One really can't be hum-bungled by out of control children getting in my way.
