MEMORIES of London 2012 were revived as over 40 children gathered to take part in the Marlow Sports Club Mini Olympics.
On a lovely summer’s evening, children between 3 and 11 tested their skills across 5 sports, including hockey, netball, tennis, running, and cricket, whilst their parents cheered from the sidelines.
Emma Hellewell, Fundraiser for the Marlow Sports Club said: "The event was a great success and a brilliant opportunity for the young community to come down, use the fantastic Club facilities and help raise vital funds for the Sports Club. Thank you to everyone who supported us".
The event was part of Marlow Sports Club’s fundraising programme and raised £750, to go towards the £1.2 million cost of buying land and building an all-weather pitch. The £500,000 mark has been reached.
Following a massive increase in membership in recent months, around 2,000 people from the local community now use the ground. The facilities have been improved by the refurbishment of the tennis courts and the addition of the all-weather pitch.
Chairman, Paul Sambrook said "All the trustees are committed to constantly finding ways of improving the facilities. We really do see an exciting future".
The club is actively raising funds, however needs further support through donations and sponsorship from local companies and organisations.
