A PRESTIGIOUS live music award was won by Buckinghamshire New University at an awards ceremony celebrating Students' Union entertainment.
The Ents Forum Awards awards were presented at the University of Surrey and Noel Cornford, events manager at Bucks Students’ Union collected the 'Best Live Music Provision’ award.
Other awards, judged by a panel of experts, included best marketing campaign; one-off event; regular club night; Students’ Union venue; and Students’ Union manager of the year. In making their decision for the award, judges considered areas including pricing, line-ups, relationships and collaboration with agencies and promoters, research, and marketing and PR.
The university is able to provide a number of activities to students for free through its ‘Big Deal’ initiative.
Tristan Tipping, Chief Executive Officer of Bucks Students’ Union, said, "We are pleased to be able to say that the unique offer at Bucks beat all challengers from across the higher education sector to be recognised as something exceptional.
"e are extremely proud of the range of top quality experiences that we provide for our students, and this award highlights the value and success of that work. Full credit goes to Noel Cornford, our Events Officer, and his team who have worked hard to build our reputation for live music since the inception of the Big Deal five years ago."
Bucks New University’s Students’ Union operates two entertainment venues at its Campus in Queen Alexandra Road, High Wycombe, called The Venue and The White Room, and has attracted acts including Bastille, Funeral for a Friend, and Little Comets.
This year’s three-day Festiball event, an annual student ball with a range of entertainment, also featured the likes of Rudimental and Marvin Humes, from JLS, among many others.
The Best Live Music Provision award was sponsored by The Psycho Management Company.
