CALLING all arty schoolchildren – here’s your chance to win a £50 voucher in a half term drawing contest.
There are prizes up for grabs for the best picture for both under and over 11-year-olds who take part in the contest on Friday May 31 at Hartwell House, Aylesbury.
All you have to do is to turn up and draw your version of a fantastic old church which stands at the site.
The free event is being run by Bucks University Technical College (UTC) which, along with its partners, is holding a Showcase Exhibition with Master Craft Stands, for the general public and young people aged 14-19 years interested in courses in heritage construction.
The Showcase, from 10am-4pm at Hartwell House, will demonstrate how heritage crafts work and explain how the UTC’s students could work alongside listed buildings.
Master Craft experts will be on hand to talk about the sometimes forgotten traditional craft skills, encouraging visitors to ‘Have a Go’.
Rory Cullen, Head of Buildings at the National Trust says: "We’re looking for the next generation of skilled people to help us preserve our country’s heritage and courses like those run at Bucks UTC allow us to bring these young people through."
Bev Flanagan, Bucks UTC Principal added: "This showcase proves the strength of Bucks UTC’s partnerships in the area of heritage construction and highlights some of the really interesting opportunities that our students will be offered."
The best picture of the church, in both the under 11 and over 11 category, will win a £50 voucher from Waterstones. Hartwell House (The Church of the Assumption of Our Lady), is at 76 Oxford Road, Aylesbury HP17 8PL
