A YOUNG volunteer from Bucks was the star of illusionist Derren Brown’s latest Channel 4 show last night – apparently being convinced that he had woken up in a zombie wasteland.

In part one of ‘Apocalypse’, Steve Brosnan was introduced as a 21-year-old who lives with his parents and has a dead-end job.

According to his social networking profiles, Steve is from Chalfont St Peter and went to school at Chalfonts Community College.

Derren Brown said the show would be an opportunity to give him a second chance at life and make him realise how important his family are.

The setup involved Brown hacking into Steve’s mobile phone, installing cameras at his home and feeding him information about an imminent meteor shower about to hit earth.

After several days the ‘disaster’ strikes and Steve is shown waking up in an abandoned hospital [or film set to the viewer] to find that he is one of a small group of survivors – played by actors.

And in scenes which closely resemble the Danny Boyle film 28 Days Later, many other survivors have been left in a blood-soaked, zombie-like state due to a supposed virus.

Brown promises that a psychologist and medical team are keeping tabs on Steve throughout, and said there is a subtle hint embedded in Steve’s mind that will stop him ending up in constant fear of such an event happening for real.
