Brian Herbert Scrivener

Published on 13/09/2024

SCRIVENER Brian Herbert Passed away peacefully at home on 24th August 2024 aged 97 years. Brian was the son of a bootmaker who defied class conventions of the time and joined the RAF at the end of WW2. He flew with RAF Transport Command during Indian Independence 1947 and the Berlin Airlift 1948/9. He met his beloved wife Shirley at Durham University and then joined BOAC (to become British Airways) where he continued to explore the world. Brian was the greatest of hosts and made strong, lasting friendships wherever he went. As well as his passion for aviation, he loved reading and learning about the world but also took equal enjoyment in sharing his knowledge and experiences. He was at heart a story tellera true raconteur. He was also a talented builder, carpenter and inventor who built his own house and could repair anything! He will be sadly missed by his family and all who were lucky enough to have known him. A Service to Celebrate Brian's Life is to be held in the Milton Chapel at The Chilterns Crematorium on Monday 16th September 2024 at 11.30am. No flowers please but donations to Wikimedia UK will be gratefully received online at brian-scrivener.muchloved.com All enquiries c/o Arnold Funeral Service Beaconsfield Tel 01494-685000.
